Business Source License (BSL)
Section titled “Business Source License (BSL)”Komand’s core platform is licensed under the Business Source License (BSL). This is a source-available license with a time-delayed conversion to a fully open-source license.
What This Means
Section titled “What This Means”- Source code is available — you can read, study, and learn from the code
- Self-hosting is free — deploy on your own infrastructure at no cost
- Commercial use is restricted — you cannot offer Komand as a hosted service to others without a commercial license
- Time-delayed open source — after a set period, the code converts to an OSI-approved open-source license
Why BSL?
Section titled “Why BSL?”BSL protects Komand’s ability to sustain development while keeping the code transparent:
- Users can audit the code they run
- Security researchers can review the codebase
- Contributors can improve the platform
- The business model supports ongoing development
Open SDK (MIT)
Section titled “Open SDK (MIT)”The Komand SDK is licensed under the MIT License — a permissive open-source license with no restrictions:
- Build skills, integrations, and extensions freely
- Use in commercial or open-source projects
- No attribution requirements beyond the license notice
- Fork, modify, and redistribute without restriction
